Healy Hat-Trick Hero

Well, without wishing to gloat....I told you so. In the previous post I pointed out that Healy seems to score for fun for Northern Ireland and yet struggles to replicate that form for Leeds on a regular basis. Occasionally you see the flashes of brilliance but the rest of the time he appears somewhat miserable. And what does he do on Saturday? Scores another hat-trick. OK, so it was against Lichtenstein but they can't be much worse than some of the teams we are playing now, can they?

An anonymous commenter on the last post said that during warm-ups he appears lonely and often grumpy during matches and yet was the first to run and congratulate Ankergren when he saved a penalty against Luton. What's the quote? Something about a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma. Well, he's not quite that complicated but if anyone has thoughts as to why this happens, how we can get Healy scoring for us like this and what Healy's future is at Leeds I would be interested to hear from you.

For my own opinion....well NI played 4-5-1 at the weekend with Healy as a lone striker. That's not going to work for Leeds with Cresswell fit. Does Healy need an arm around him to get the best out of him (a la Heskey) rather than a bollocking? Which does Wise go for? I don't think he'll be with us one way or another next year. Everyone thought he would leave in the Summer and he stayed but after such a miserable year for his club combined with scoring freely at international level I think there will be good money to be made from his sale.

Yeah, Healy is something of a mystery although you're right to say he can't be all that complicated...
Getting the best out of him ? I don't know. Blackwell didn't succeed at the start of the season ; Wise hasn't yet. Two distinctive managerial styles there for sure.
I'd imagine getting him to play for a team he cares about would be precisely the way to get a performance from him but if the direness of our situation so far hasn't worked... then all the hugs in the world for Casper won't change my mind about his 'commitment issues'.

I agree he is maybe the type that needs the "arm around him" approach.
However despite all the transfer rumours in the Summer and January window he is still at Leeds.
Blackwell played him for the most part as a wide man which was stupid for such a natural scorer. When Wise came Healy himself admitted he had lost confidence and wasn't playing well.
I've a gut feeling he'll have a good run in and average a goal per game in our remaining matches, lets hope so.

Its a puzzle and that's a fact. If he is a player with iffy confidence, you would think the way he flies for Northern Ireland must be enough for any ego, no matter how fragile. He maybe just doesn't feel comfortable at Leeds. We all love the club but not everyone does.
Come on cupid, get firing those arrows!! :)
